NEW! Vitare update from Matt

Posted in Development,General,Updates by Vitare Daniel on the August 26th, 2010

Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of updates we have been working hard on the client, behind the scenes, and several things do take a while, so however small it seems – it can be very efficient towards client development. Also remember, our personal lives come first, Vitare comes second.

The Vitare engine has been updated with several new features. These features are key to the Vitare engine, and provide services that are used in other services and elsewhere in the game. We’ve added the tiling engine into the game – you can add walls, floors and objects, theoretically.

Rendering is also coming along well, frustum culling as it’s known prevents objects that aren’t on your screen being rendered. This makes the game run faster.

Sorry for the lack of updates from me, but little things can take a while. And remember, Vitare comes second in my priorities.

- Matthew.

Vitare Client Update 2

Posted in Development,Feedback,General,Magic Monday,Thank You,Updates by Vitare Daniel on the August 14th, 2010

Please note: This is a re-post as the original was removed due to an error.

Hey everyone. Sadly I can not offer as much in the light of updates due to the short period of time since such a large update, however i will try and explain what’s been happening.

Firstly lighting has been started, lighting is a hugely important feature in any game as it allows interesting scene designs and layouts to be possible and creates a realistic image of light entering a room and interacting with the objects in the room.

Secondly i have started the styling feature, that allows any object to have its looks changed, it allows different textures and surface types to be applied to objects and really creates a whole range of possible textures for a single object. This feature is also optional in the custom content system, custom items can have their own style maps that lays out where each texture can go.

Finally i would like to give a huge thanks to the community for supporting us this far, and remember to keep on sending us your input, they are a huge help during the development process, and early on is where they are likely to be implemented!

Until next time,

Matt.

Fresh New Look and some updates!

Posted in General by tom on the July 14th, 2010

Yes well it’s finally here, our brand spanking new looking blog, what do you all think? There are some tweaks needed to be done here and there but they will be fixed soon! On the graphic side there is not much to say really other then the (hopeful) design of the Vitare website is done, but you know us, no sneak peaks yet! Client side I’m still cooking us up the 3D models and planning our fancy logo reveal for the start of the game!

In other news, yet again Daniel was scared half to death by his toast, which again me and Matt found hilarious. Our frequent pranks on Dan make us feel more like a family, unfortunately he is the young one we all like to bully and scare, bless him.

Possibly in my next blog post there may be some things to show, who knows! So just keep tuned in and remember if you have a good idea to improve the site, comment on this post and we will be sure to read it and possibly think about it for a few seconds (joking of course we take every idea seriously, except Matt that is!)

I’m as excited about Vitare as you all are too, and trust me we’re working our very best to get this game done! It’s going to be a long wait, but it’s going to sure be worth it!

Until next time

Tom

New Contact System

Posted in General by Vitare Daniel on the July 10th, 2010

Hey everyone – today I want to tell you about the new contact system update! We have implanted a new contact form into the blog (and it can be accessed via the www.vitare.net/contact link). This means you no longer need to have an email client working on your computer to email us, it is also a faster system and allows us to view your messages more efficiently.

Take a look at it today, go to Contact which can be found in the sidebar or go to www.vitare.net/contact.

Cheers,

Daniel

Graphics update + Toaster from hell!

Posted in General by tom on the June 28th, 2010

Hey guys what’s up? Tom here for Vitare.net’s very own blog!

This is my first post for the blog and as some may know I like to make a big and comedic entrance however this usually fails.

First off let’s get cracking, on the forum I posted about the furniture list, click  HERE to go to the thread on the forum! I’m basically just asking you to post your ideas on the forum and update the list for me, it’ll save time and help to integrate the community with the game! Another thing, a few people were concerned about the time it will take to make this furniture and that it will delay the release of Vitare.

So, what’s this toaster from hell lark?, Take a deep breath and prepare yourself for a story of shock, horror and extreme comedy.

The other day our innocent worker Dan was making some toast, when unexpectedly the toaster had done  and the toast, with violent force, popped up about 10 centimetres (like normal toasters) giving Dan the shock of his life, causing him to shake and have nightmares. This can not go on, leading toaster manufacturers are now being made to implement anti shock technology into their toasters, such as a 10 second warning siren which sets off fireworks. Below we have an artists impression of this KILLER TOASTER!

toasterfromhellMe and Matt of course found this hilarious and thought we would share it with the world. If your new toaster has fireworks and a new sprinkler system, you know why!

Until next time!

Vitare Blueprints Updated

Posted in Blog,Blueprints,Development,General,Updates by Vitare Daniel on the June 25th, 2010

Hello everyone, I’ve been up until the crack of dawn (as I write this it’s 12:53am GMT) improving Vitare Blueprints for you all.

Inspired by another website, I have re-designed the main page and it is a lot more easier to navigate. Please let us know what you think of the update, and be sure to register a Blueprints account and contribute your ideas!

The new Blueprints homepage now features new links, colours and information. You can also stay up to date with this blog on there with the RSS feature. We will be updating the homepage, so comment letting us know what Blueprint is missing.

Note: The new sidebars links on the homepage (Contribute) are not all valid. They will be added over the weekend.

I’d also like to thank you for your replies so far to the currency voting, be sure to keep giving us your ideas!

Thanks,
Daniel
